Guidelines Eligibility, Vehicle Requirements and Cash Prices.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PRE-QUALIFYING ROUND

1. Participants must be able to pass the requirements set by the organizers of the run.
2. The following are the basic requirements to qualify:
Each competing team must have 2 members.
Both team members must be recognized media practitioners connected with a media outfit with national reach/audience.
Both team members must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and should have been driving for at least 4 years.
Both team members should have no outstanding offense or record with MMDA, LTO,the NBI, or Police.
Both team members must be in good health.
All employees of Petron Corporation, its advertising agencies, its dealers, the Petron Xtra Mile Challenge organizers and their relatives of up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity are disqualified to join the run.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

1. Official vehicles should meet the following requirements:
ELIGIBLE VEHICLES
a. Only vehicles manufactured from 1990 onwards with engine displacements of up to 1600 cc and are unleaded gasoline-driven engines will be accepted, provided they seat a minimum of 4 people.
b. Vehicles must comply with their respective manufacturers’ handbooks with the latitudes, limitations and requirements as specifically listed in Attachment I.
c. When accepting entries, the organizers will give preference to quantity production vehicles having detailed specifications which exactly represent the models as supplied or imported by the official Philippine manufacturer or distributor, with no modifications, deletions or additions which could materially affect their performance other than allowed in Attachment I.
2. Upon submission of the application form, each team must indicate the make/model of the vehicle that they will be using as their official entry.
a. A photocopy of the vehicle’s registration papers (OR/CR) must be submitted with the application form.
b. Ideally the vehicle should be registered in the name of one of the team members.
c.In the event that the vehicle is not registered to one of the team members, the team should submit an official endorsement from the registered vehicle owner indicating the following:
i.) That the owner is aware that the vehicle will be used as an official entry in the Petron Xtra Mile Challenge – Media Edition.
ii.)That the owner is allowing the team to use the vehicle for the competition.
iii.)That the owner authorizes Petron and its agencies to use the vehicle in photos and other publicity materials related to the event.
iv.)That Petron and its agencies do not have any liability to the vehicle owner.

WINNERS OF THE PRE-QUALIFYING ROUND

1.Out of the applications submitted, ten media teams will be chosen by a panel of judges formed by Petron Corporation, its advertising agency, and the event organizer.
2.Upon selection and acceptance as an Official Entry in the competition, there will be a P50,000 cash incentive for the team. In addition, the team will receive gasoline vouchers worth P3,000 per month for 1 year, from January to December 2007.
3.To be accepted as an Official Entry, team members will be asked to sign a contract and waiver with the advertising agency and event organizer.

CASH PRIZES

1.The winning team with the farthest distance will get a cash prize of
P 150,000.00
2.The winning team with the 2nd farthest distance will get a cash prize of
P 100,000.00
3.The winning team with the 3rd farthest distance will get a cash prize of
P 75,000.00
4.The record breaker/s will get an additional cash prize of
P 50,000.00
