The winning team of the Petron Xtra Mile Challenge finally ran out of fuel at the 1,400-kilometer mark, after having traversed the entire length of Luzon from the Petron station in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, all the way down to Matnog in Sorsogon, then crossing over to Allen, Northern Samar, and back-tracking through Bicol, stopping at Nabua town, just outside Naga City, Camarines Sur. XTRA MILE Challenge Day 2: Tarlac to Naga

The Petron Xtra Mile Challengers covered close to 450 kilometers from Petron station in Bangui, Ilocos Norte to Tarlac, Tarlac yesterday, on the first day of this endurance fuel economy run.

Today, the group took off in the wee hours of the morning, and will attempt to reach Naga in Camarines Norte, on the second leg of the Xtra Mile Challenge. They will attempt to manage an additional 520 kilometers without refuelling, before going for the final push tomorrow, in their attempt to reach the southernmost point of Matnog, Sorsogon. XTRA Mile Challenge Flags Off Today

Tuesday, 31 May 2006, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. The Petron Xtra Mile Challenge consisting of six official cars and their support vehicles flags off early morning today from Bangui, Ilocos Norte after filling up at the local Petron Station. Representatives from the Automotive Association of the Philippines (AAP) and Car Awards Group (CAGI) will be present to officially seal the fuel tanks of the six entry cars.

Six teams have been pre-qualified and chosen as the official entries to the Petron Xtra Mile Challenge. Set to run on the last week of May, the event challenges ordinary motorists to break the record of 1,114-kilometers on one full tank of Petron Xtra Unleaded set by racing legend Pocholo Ramirez last year.
