This website has been commissioned by PETRON CORPORATION to showcase the technological advances in their various fuel products through events and promotions that involve the public participation.
For the first phase, www.petronfuelsuccess.com featured the PETRON XTRA MILE CHALLENGE 2006, a promotional event featuring PETRON XTRA UNLEADED. The campaign ran from May to June 2006. Out of all the applicants, 6 teams were chosen to drive from Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte to Bicol or until one-full-tank of Petron XTRA Unleaded has been consumed in an attempt to break the 1114kms. record set by racing Legend, Pocholo Ramirez in the summer of 2005.
In addition to the XTRA MILES Challenge promo, visitors to the site are able to read about the fuel success stories of consumers who have enjoyed the benefits switching to Petron fuel products and submit their own fuel success stories.
All six teams broke the 1114kms. record. Team Zayco Hermanos from Negros Occidental set a new record at 1400.4kms.
The PETRON XTRA MILE CHALLENGE – MEDIA EDITION 2007 is designed to show how far a well maintained and skillfully-driven vehicle can travel on one full tank of PETRON XTRA UNLEADED gasoline, in varying conditions over a representative selection of Philippine roads. Vehicles will all use PETRON XTRA UNLEADED fuel obtainable from selected normal commercial service stations along the route.
10 teams composed of recognized media practitioners connected with a media outfit with national reach/audience will be chosen to drive from Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte to Bicol or until one-full-tank of Petron XTRA Unleaded has been consumed in an attempt to break the 1440.4 kilometers record set by TEAM ZAYCO HERMANOS, composed of brothers Emilio and Emmanuel Zayco in the summer of 2006.
